Tuesday Tip: Twitter for Teachers

This week’s Web 2.0 Tool is something you’ve all undoubtedly heard of but perhaps few have used… Twitter!

I have found Twitter to be an invaluable source for news, links, resources, information, and sharing.  It’s a growing forum for educators’ professional learning network.

The slide show below is the perfect “Getting Started” guide.  (Click Fullscreen)  At the end are several links to resources for using Twitter with your students!

Here are the links from the document I sent:

A Twictionary

Remember:

  • Start slowly but keep at it.  It may seem overwhelming at first, and it will take about 2 weeks to start cultivating a rich environment.  It’s worth the time.
  • You don’t have to Tweet right away–just sit in the wings for a little while and listen.
  • When you need a fresh idea, check Twitter before you Google it.
  • Feel free to ask your Twitter colleagues or Christine for support and tips.

To be entered in this week’s drawing for a fabulous t-shirt, create a Twitter account and follow me! @cbuchanan_dasd
