Tuesday Tech Tip: Parent Communication

Good afternoon,

With parent teacher conferences in full swing, I thought it would be helpful to provide a few tips and tools on effective communication.

This site provides 10 practical resources for effective, positive, and collaborative parent-teacher experience.

If you need to communicate with a parent who cannot attend conferences, consider conducting a conference via Skype. (It’s also an excellent tool in the classroom for connecting and collaborating with other groups/classrooms all over the world!)  Let Christine know if you’d like to try that option.

Finally, you can communicate events, assignments, due dates, etc. with a Google Calendar embedded in your class website.  It’s easy to set up and provides a complete picture of past and future events.  Contact Christine for a quick walk-through on how to do this.

Last week’s winner of a t-shirt is Stephanie Unertl, Librarian at EPES! Feel free to check things out on Twitter when you have a question or need a resource.  Try searching #edchat.

Have a great week,

P.S. I simply cannot resist sharing this with you… an animated poem by Taylor Mali (of What Teachers Make fame) called Totally like whatever, you know? on speaking with conviction.
