Tuesday Tech Tip–J Drive & Picasa

Good morning,

Today’s tip compliments two of Kim’s recent posts… upcoming network changes and the GoogleApps transition.

  • Spring cleaning the J: drive
  • Using Picasa web albums with your newly transitioned GoogleApps accounts.
With the upcoming network migration, the J: drive will no longer be used for grades 5-12.  If you’ve got lots of documents or powerpoint presentations, consider uploading them to GoogleDocs or moving them to your H: drive.  Many staff use the J: drive to collect and store photos, or have many photos hogging their H: drive space.
Why upload photos to an online web album?
  • You can access your photos from anywhere, not just a networked computer.
  • Your images are backed-up, safe and sound.
  • You can share your albums.
  • You can free up space on your own machine–photos are big files.
  • Picasa web albums is part of our GoogleApps suite.  Sweet!
Picasa 3 and Picasa Web Albums shows you how to edit and upload photos using Picasa.  It may seem like a long process, but once you do it–it’s a piece of cake.
